Luisa Puterman

(São Paulo 1989)

Luisa Puterman is a Sao Paulo-based composer, producer and sound designer. Luisa has graduate in Art History and attended some music conservatories before going on to specialize in audio engineering. Her research projects explore possibilities, problems and other aspects of composition and sound perception. “Sound is a central element in life that can expand connections between scientific, philosophical, mystical and everyday content,” says Luisa, whose cross disciplinary sound work encompass video, installation, live performance, contemporary dance and songwriting. Recently, she has participated in festivals, residencies and exhibitions such as: FILE – São Paulo; 18th Japan Media Festival – Tokyo, Japan; FIVAC – Camaguey, Cuba; FIF-Belo Horizonte; Red Bull Music Academy – Paris, France, OneBeat – New Orleans/Chicago, US; BANFF center for the arts – Banff, Canada among others.

Sound, somehow was always there: music, break, life, healing and art. There is a sincere difficulty in identifying and describing a temporal beginning and purpose goal to some creative intention.

Many projects have sound as their core and it’s expanded field as some soft perimeter that protects it. A moderate need for the act of writingexperiences is followed by images and sounds that are conducted by the mysteries of perception. Performances, video, audio, installations and graphicscores provide support to serve such needs.

Always looking for new ways of working, perceiving and thinking sound, the projects interact with the history of art and psychoacoustic parameters. The fundamental characteristics of sound and its intellectual consequences stimulate forms and contents that illustrate some puzzles of imagination.This range of  information contaminated by the fact that every action produces sound frequencies and thus everything is potentially able to betranslated, decoded and assimilated by listening, encourages the habit of organizing and representing.

In order to explore the interdisciplinary nature of contemporary artistic creation, the research see in sound a powerful gateway, capable of expandingrelations between scientific, philosophical and mystical content.
